First retail Chevrolet Camaro sells for $350,000 at Barrett-Jackson auction

One very passionate Camaro enthusiast at this year’s Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, has bid $350,000 for the rights to come away with the keys to the first retail production-built 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. General Motors has confirmed that production of the rejuvenated muscle car isn’t due to start until March 16, so the winning bidder will have a couple of months to ponder over whether it was worth paying more than ten times as much as the car actually costs. Of course, all proceeds from the sale are actually going to a charity - in this case, to the American Heart Association – and then there’s always the bragging rights to owning the vehicle with a VIN ending with #100001.
