General Motors has announced that it expects the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox to receive EPA ratings of 22 mpg city and 32 mpg highway with the base 2.4-liter direct-injected Ecotec inline-four and front-wheel drive. Combined with a previously announced starting price of $23,930, the upcoming crossover appears to be shaping up into a solid competitor in the small-ute segment. The standard mill is rated at 182 hp, and the expected highway mileage gives the SUV a projected range of up to 600 miles, according to the automaker. (The Equinox will also be available with all-wheel drive as well as a 255-hp, 3.0-liter direct-injected V-6.)
